Among the 91 FMCSA-registered interstate household goods movers tracked in PlainMove's database, which carriers report the lowest customer complaint rates and the strongest published safety ratings, and how does years in operation correlate with safety rating?
Methodology
This ranking is generated live from PlainMove's own mover database, sorted by lowest FMCSA-reported complaint rate. Safety ratings, complaint counts, and years-operating figures come from the U.S. Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's SAFER System mover registration records. No figure here is hardcoded, every number reflects the current state of PlainMove's database and updates automatically when the underlying federal data is refreshed.
Movers with no available safety rating or complaint-rate data are excluded from this ranking rather than shown with a placeholder value. See the methodology page for the full list of sources and update cadence.

What this analysis cannot tell us
FMCSA safety ratings are assigned based on compliance reviews and reported safety events; not every active mover has been formally rated, and an absent rating does not necessarily indicate poor safety performance. Complaint rate is computed as FMCSA-recorded customer complaints divided by years operating; this normalizes for fleet age but does not normalize for shipment volume, so a high-volume carrier and a low-volume carrier with identical complaint rates may have very different per-shipment complaint experiences. Long-operating movers benefit from name recognition and an established compliance history but are not categorically safer than newer entrants, the FMCSA registry includes safety information that should be consulted directly for any specific carrier hiring decision. This ranking is provided as administrative data summary, not as a hiring recommendation.
